On October 3rd under the theme “Little Wonders” the researches of IPS and IBPT, participated in this year’s „Sendung mit der Maus“ Open Day, welcoming around 100 children on an exciting journey into the world of research.
Through experiments, hands-on activities and plenty of opportunities to explore, the children not only learned about science – they were also able to experience and discover it for themselves.
The German Conference on Research with Synchrotron Radiation, Neutrons, Ions and Accelerators at Large-Scale Facilities (SNIB) was successfully provided a forum for the exchange of current research results, methodological developments and new scientific and technological approaches from 8 to 10 September 2026 in Hamburg.
The SNIB is a unique platform for exchange between universities, research institutions, large-scale scientific facilities, industry, and innovation stakeholders.
Biliana Gasharova and Yves-Laurent Mathis from IBPT co-authored an article together with M. Griedel, M. Kristen, A. V. Ustinov, and H. Rotzinger from Physikalisches Institut (PHI) and Institute for Quantum Materials and Technologies (IQMT) entitled Low-loss material for infrared protection of cryogenic quantum applications.
A quantum computer test setup developed at KIT is used to measure filters for superconducting circuits.

IBPT hosted the Final Annual Meeting FINE of the EURO-LABS EC funded project, June 29th-July 1st.
It was the final opportunity for participants to comprehensively assess and share project achievements, deliberate upon outcomes, and prepare the final report.
FINE featured a scientific presentation of the work done during the project. Posters were also presented.
Attendance was encouraged by all EURO-LABS members as well as users of the facilities, particularly students and early career researchers.
On 25 June 2026, the IBPT celebrated its anniversary. Numerous guests, partners and friends from the KIT Executive Board, the academic world and industry joined us in celebrating our 10th anniversary. The institute’s history was brought to life by sand artists, accompanied by a piece of music composed especially for the IBPT, which proved to be the highlight of the event and captivated the audience.

ARD ST3 is the topical community on “Advanced beam control, beam diagnostics and beam dynamics” within the Helmholtz program Matter and Technologies' Topic Accelerator Research & Development (ARD). It connects researchers from six Helmholtz Centers and two Helmholtz Institutes.
