Biliana Gasharova and Yves-Laurent Mathis from IBPT co-authored an article together with M. Griedel, M. Kristen, A. V. Ustinov, and H. Rotzinger from Physikalisches Institut (PHI) and Institute for Quantum Materials and Technologies (IQMT) entitled Low-loss material for infrared protection of cryogenic quantum applications.
A quantum computer test setup developed at KIT is used to measure filters for superconducting circuits.

IBPT hosted the Final Annual Meeting FINE of the EURO-LABS EC funded project, June 29th-July 1st.
It was the final opportunity for participants to comprehensively assess and share project achievements, deliberate upon outcomes, and prepare the final report.
FINE featured a scientific presentation of the work done during the project. Posters were also presented.
Attendance was encouraged by all EURO-LABS members as well as users of the facilities, particularly students and early career researchers.
On 25 June 2026, the IBPT celebrated its anniversary. Numerous guests, partners and friends from the KIT Executive Board, the academic world and industry joined us in celebrating our 10th anniversary. The institute’s history was brought to life by sand artists, accompanied by a piece of music composed especially for the IBPT, which proved to be the highlight of the event and captivated the audience.

ARD ST3 is the topical community on “Advanced beam control, beam diagnostics and beam dynamics” within the Helmholtz program Matter and Technologies' Topic Accelerator Research & Development (ARD). It connects researchers from six Helmholtz Centers and two Helmholtz Institutes.
On 8 May 2026, the FameLab Talking Science regional final for south-west Germany took place in Karlsruhe. FameLab is an international talent competition in which young scientists have to explain complex scientific research topics in 3 minutes. Matthias Nabinger (KIT IBPT) secured the 1st prize. Congratulations!

On April 23, 2026, the IBPT presented the “At Light Speed: Journey into the Particle Accelerator” workshop on the nationwide Girls’ Day, giving students a hands on experience at how electrons and photons are accelerated, steered, and measured. The students were introduced to the fundamentals of accelerator physics while also letting them experience the everyday work of physicists and engineers in a large scale research environment. The event included a guided tour of the accelerator KARA, showcasing its principal components and operational principles.
